Customise Logic's Arrange

Logic-Studio-Box
Customise Logic's arrange page - A screencast tutorial showing you how to customise Logic's arrange page to suit and enhance your workflow. In this video we'll look at how to modify the transport bar and add new functions to your working environment.

Logic, strip silence and drums

drums_dw
Logic, strip silence and drums. This is the first in a loosely connected series. We'll be giving a multi track drum session a good going over in an attempt to introduce a lot of drum mixing concepts. Logic, strip silence and drums is a two part episode and you can view the second part here.

AU plug-ins, installing for Logic

coreaudio
In this video we'll take you very quickly through the process for installing AU plug-ins on OSX. This tutorial focuses on AUs that don't come with an installer, so need to be installed manually. If installed in the correct location AUs are available to all host programmes that are AU compatible, so you can use them in Garageband, Logic, Waveburner or any other AU host. You can watch the tutorial screencast here.
Logic's arpeggiator

Arpeggiator
In this screencast lesson we answer another often asked question. How do you use Logic's arpeggiator ? Well it's pretty simple actually. Follow our step by step guide and well have you arpeggiating in no time. You can view the free video lesson here.

Logic and sample augmenting or replacing

drum_kit
Logic and sample augmenting or replacing. Intended as a follow on episode to our Logic, strip silence and drums tutorial, in this video we have a look at how to sample augment or replace using on the built in tools in Logic Pro. We demonstrate how to use Logic's Audio to Score function to output a midi file that is then used to trigger drum samples from Steven Slate drums which we've loaded into an Exs24. This approach enables you to beef up your drum recordings without it sounding too artificial. You can watch the video tutorial here.

An introduction to Automation in Logic Pro

Automation
When I was learning to mix, automation was the domain of large format mixing consoles like SSL or Neve. If you wanted to turn up the vocals for every chorus you'd studiously mark the two positions on the desk with a chinagraph pencil and perform the move each time by hand. The first time I saw "flying faders" perform this trick automatically was akin to a miracle. Now every DAW package has this feature built in. In this tutorial we discuss how to perform this trick in Logic. Using the same drum session we have been on working on in previous episodes we discuss volume and mute automation. Automation is a big topic and it's definitely one we'' come back to. Watch the video here.
Installing third party Exs instruments

Exs24
In this tutorial we'll quickly run through the process of installing "ready rolled" Exs24 instruments. There are thousands of pre made Exs instruments available for purchase and for download and this screencast shows you how to add them to the correct location.

More on Logic's automation

automation2
In this screencast we take another look at Logic's built in automation functions. This time the focus is on automating the parameters of plug-ins. As this tutorial is a little more "in depth" it may be worth taking a look at our other video on Logic's automation, you can view that here. As mentioned in previous screencasts automation is a big topic, so it's one we'll more than likely come back to.
Backwards audio in Logic Pro

backwards
A quick and easy Logic tutorial showing how to make an audio file play backwards. This demonstration shows how to make the backwards cymbal effect. Not the most creative idea but familiar enough that most people will recognise it. Exactly the same technique will work for all audio, even the backwards guitar solo !! You can view this instalment here.
